Their Voices Matter—Help Us Keep Them Heard

March 2024

Today, we face another heartbreaking setback. Funding for the Immigrant and Refugee Law Center (IRLC) has been cut once again. This decision not only impacts our ability to provide critical legal services but also threatens the rights and dreams of the most vulnerable among us, our children.

Every child has the right to dream of a better future. Every child has the right to safety, dignity, and the opportunity to thrive. No one should have the power to take those rights away. Yet, by cutting funding for legal representation, we are failing these children when they need us most.

At IRLC, we believe that every child deserves a voice. Legal representation is not just a service; it is a lifeline. It ensures that children who have fled violence, poverty, and

unimaginable hardships are not alone as they navigate a complex and often unforgiving system. It protects them from exploitation, trafficking, and further trauma. It gives them a chance to hope, to heal, and to dream.

What’s at Stake

  • 26,000 children across the country rely on programs like ours for legal support.

  • Without representation, children are left vulnerable to deportation, trafficking, and abuse.

  • Cutting funding silences their voices and denies them the right to a fair chance at safety and stability.

How You Can Help

We will not stand by as these rights are stripped away. But we cannot do this alone. We need your support now more than ever. Here’s how you can help:

  1. Donate: Your contribution ensures that we can continue fighting for these children.

  2. Advocate: Contact your representatives and demand that they protect funding for legal services for immigrant children.

  3. Share: Spread the word about our work and the urgent need to protect children’s rights.

Together, we can ensure that no child is left behind. Thank you for standing with us in this fight for justice, dignity, and the belief that every child deserves a future filled with possibility.

With gratitude and resolve,

Mayra Casas Jackson
